Why does Vince McMahon want to return to WWE?

According to Vince McMahon the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is entering a critical juncture in its history with the upcoming media rights negotiations coinciding with increased industry-wide demand for quality content and live events and with more companies seeking to own the intellectual property on their platforms.

Moreover, Vince said that the only way WWE can capitalize on this opportunity is if he returns as Executive Chairman and supports the WWE’s management team in the negotiations for our media rights and to combine that with a review of strategic alternatives. Vince also said that his return will allow WWE, as well as any transaction counterparties, to engage in these processes knowing they will have the support of the controlling shareholder as he is the majority owner of the company.

Love him or hate him but no one can deny the fact that Vince McMahon has built the company (WWE) from nothing to everything. Moreover, he is still the majority owner of the company. So, there is probably nothing that can stop Vince McMahon from returning to WWE if he makes up his mind to return. Besides, he knows the wrestling business more than anyone else. So, if WWE is struggling in negotiations for media rights then the only person that can help them is Vince McMahon.

After Vince McMahon stepped down from his position and retired last year, Paul “Triple H” Levesque rehired many WWE superstars that were released from the company by Vince McMahon. 1. Use of Steroids

In 1993 Vince McMahon was criminally charged with conspiracy to distribute Steroids to wrestlers by the US Department of Justice. However, Vince admitted that he had used steroids himself before they became illegal, but denied the charges and was ultimately acquitted by a jury in the federal district court.

WWE Superstars are often accused of the use of steroids and other drugs. Many wrestlers have also admitted over the years that they have used steroids and drugs in the past. Some of those wrestlers are Shawn Michael, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, etc.

2. Chris Benoit’s Death Row

When WWF superstar Chris Benoit was found dead along with his wife Nancy and son Daniel, McMahon canceled a 3-hour live episode of RAW and replaced it with a tribute show to honor Chris Benoit. However, later it was found that it was possibly a murder-suicide by Chris Benoit.

After the details of the Murder-suicide case of Chris Benoit went public, McMahon was forced to confront the public’s backlash. After that incident, Benoit’s name was never mentioned in the WWE again.

3. Firing talented wrestling

In 2021 alone WWE released more than 80 wrestlers from their contracts giving the reason of budget cuts. However, things get heated when in December 2021 Vince McMahon appeared in a backstage segment of Raw and joked that he enjoys firing people and he especially enjoys firing people just before the holidays as it gives him a warm feeling in his stomach like he just had a really good meal.

Following his statement, Vince McMahon received severe backlash on social media from wrestling fans and especially from the fans of the superstars that were released by the company.

Our Opinion

As a dying hard fan of WWE for years, we believe the company must do what’s best for business and what’s best for wrestling fans around the world. So, if the company does need Vince McMahon for the sake of the company’s good, then they must welcome him back.

However, if the company feels there is no need for Vince to come back and that Vince is just making excuses to return to the table then they must oppose his return strongly and publicly.
